How to install Call of Juarez custom maps

• Download
• Create subfolders data/mapsnet/ in your installed CoJ folder (if it doesn't already exist)
• Unpack downloaded map to the data/mapsnet/ subfolder of your installed Coj folder
• See procedure below to fix NO LIGHTMAP problem
• Restart CoJ game
• Turn off all cheats
• Play like crazy

Upload Call of Juarez custom maps

Below you can upload custom maps that you would like to have added to the list of available maps.

Note: You can upload a single file (200mb max), so we suggest you make a compressed archive of the maps.
Accepted archive types: zip, rar, gzip, tarball. All uploaded maps will be reviewed before publishing.

Select a file to upload:

Write some optional text to send with the upload. We suggest you enter your contact info in case we need to contact you.
If you wan't to be mentioned as contributer, don't forget to enter your name

  By uploading, i (the uploader) agree that server owners may have free use of uploaded maps for non-commercial purposes

Before uploading, you must enter the verification code to prove that this is not a program executing automatic functions. (Input field is NOT case sensitive)

You entered an invalid verification code!

Some tips when playing the game online

• When you're dead, it's no point to speak to those still alive, THEY CAN'T HEAR YOU!
• Don't cheat, it's not fun

NO LIGHTMAP problem in some maps

The problem is that some maps may have "Read-only" attribute set on their files,
so COJ can't seem to open them in desired mode. If you have a problem with "no lightmap" in some maps, here is what you do:

• Exit the game
• Open windows explorer and go to COJ mapsnet folder
• Select all subfolders (maps), right-click and select properties
• Check the "Read-only" check box and press Apply button
• Windows may ask you if you want to apply this to all subfolders, select 2nd option and press Ok
• Uncheck the "Read-only" check box and press Apply button
• Windows may ask you if you want to apply this to all subfolders, select 2nd option and press Ok
• Restart the game

This will reset "Read-only" attribute to all files in all subfolders, which should correct the problem.
If this happens again on some later time, just do this procedure again

• First, you need to add server administrators. To do that, you have to:
• Exit the game
• Search your computer for file named ServerAdmins.scr
• When you find it, change its file extension from .scr to .txt
• Open it with Notepad
• You will see some sample text inside, so add the following to a new line at the bottom:
  Admin("user","pass",1)
  Change "user" and "pass" to your own username and password.
  You can add as many of these lines as you like to add more administrators
• Save the file, close it, then change its extension back from .txt to .scr
  
• Start the game, then create server game as usual
  

NOTE! You have to open your Windows Firewall for the game, to allow users to see your server in the list and connect to it.

How to open Windows Firewall

To open your Windows Firewall for the game, do the following: (instructions are for Windows XP)

• Select Start | Control panel | Windows Firewall
• Then select the second tab called Exceptions
• Press button "Add program..." and browse for file Coj.exe
• Press Ok, then again Ok and that's it

If your are behind external firewall, you also have to route the external TCP and UDP port number, you selected
in the game's "Server settings" menu, to computer running the server game. Yep...

How do i create a dedicated server and what does that even mean?

Dedicated server means, that the computer running the game is used only for hosting the game, not playing it, so when
you start the game, you won't be able to play it on this computer, because the game will start in text mode.

The easiest way to create a dedicated server would be:

• First, you need to add server administrators. (See point 1 above)
• Start the game, then create server as usual, by adding and configuring maps
• When done, don't start the game, instead exit the game.
• Then, in your Windows Start menu, find the shortcut "Run Call of Juarez dedicated internet server" and select it
  If you dont have that shortcut, then do the following:
  • Create a shortcut to Coj.exe on your desktop, then right-click it and select properties
  • In the target window, add
    -server -dedicated -internet at the end (outside the double quotes if there are any)
  • Press Ok to save the changes
  • Double-click the shortcut to start the game
• The game should start in text mode and you should be able to see your server in the list
• To log in as administrator, type the following in chat window:
  /adminlogin user pass
  (user and pass being secrets you added to ServerAdmins.scr file)

Commands available when playing online

These are commands you can enter in the chat window when playing online: (mind the slash "/" in front)

Commands available to game version 1.0

• /nick newname - change your nickname
• /playerlist - show the list of players currently on the server (their name and their ID number)
• /killme - automatically kills you
• /adminlogin username password - log in as administrator (you need your username and password)
• /kill playername or ID - kills a player found by name or ID (you have to be logged in as administrator)
• /adminsay message - throws admin message to all users in red color (you have to be logged in as administrator)
• /kick playername or ID - kicks the player from the server (you have to be logged in as administrator)
• /mapnext - changes map to next in row (you have to be logged in as administrator)

Commands available to game version 1.1 and ufcourse on version 1.0 with Coolserver.si patch 1002+

• /ban playername or ID - kicks the player from the server and also prevents the player to join the server again (you have to be logged in as administrator)
